In what I consider to be one of the best movies of my lifetime, Never Been Kissed, the star of the movie Josie Gellar (played by Drew Berrymore) makes a comment of “To write well, you have to write what you know”. Since some of you have seen this movie and are wanting to scream “I’m not Josie Grossie anymore!!” at the top of your lungs, please consider this your permission to do just that, I’ll wait.
And now, back to this blog. I’m really not of any utmost importance or title or role, but I have been through some life. At this mid-range point of my life, I thought a blog would be a great place to share some of my stories from these past 30-something years, through the lens of the very strange sense-of-humor I hold, and also hear some stories in return.
In no particular order, here are some highlights that I’ll be chit-chatting on:
-Being raised in religion (including both church attending and attending a Christian school…both on the same campus).
-The affects of abuse on a child being raised in such a religious environment
-Pseudo-dating/marriage/divorce in my own life (and the role the aforementioned religion topic played in all 3)
-Parental divorce and the impact on adult children
-Hyperthyroidism and the joys of remission
-Being a female fan/supporter in a male-dominated professional wrestling world
-Therapy/self-care/personal boundaries
-Why “The Office” will probably forever be my favorite TV show
…and with that extensively long list (sorry, not sorry), let’s make like P!nk and get this party started. I’ll bring the confetti!
